Idaho foreclosed homes, including Boise, go on the auction block Monday | Boise, Garden City, Mountain Home | Idaho Statesman

Auction.com rolls into Boise with an auction beginning at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Red Lion Downtowner in Boise.

More than 20 foreclosed homes statewide will be up for bid, including:

-- 6102 W. Post St., Boise, a 1,877-square-foot house previously valued to $165,000 and now at a starting auction bid of $29,000.

-- 9278 W. Osprey Meadows Drive, Garden City, a 2,698-square-foot house previously valued to $358,600; starting auction bid of $79,000.

Boise is the third and final stop in a three-day, three-city Northwest campaign that began Saturday in Seattle and continued Sunday in Portland.

Auction officials say the event helps local economies while providing prospective homebuyers with many opportunities to buy an affordable dream home.

"Getting families back into these houses creates more jobs, but it also helps in reestablishing the real estate market, setting the market up with a firm foundation to build upon," said Auction.com CEO Jeff Frieden. "When a house sits vacant, it hurts the local and even the national economy. But when Auction.com turns a foreclosed house back into a home, a new family is paying a mortgage, property taxes, gas, electric and water bills, and they're creating jobs by hiring landscapers, painters and electricians -- all of which fuels the economy."
