Ada County deputy with a secret weapon wrangles a pair of loose horses | Local News | Idaho Statesman

Credit Ada County sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Teall with being prepared.

When calls came in to dispatchers Monday morning about two horses walking in and out of traffic on Cloverdale Road, police and bystanders couldn’t corral them.

Attempts by two Boise police officers to box in the horses with their patrol cars failed when the horses just ran around them. The officers tracked the horses to Victory and Five Mile, and Teall lured them to a pasture.

The trick? A bucket of oats and a bridle he keeps in his patrol car for just such a situation (on advice he got as a rookie 12 years ago).
