Dr. Grumpy on Botox and magic
A couple recent grumpylinks — short, funny links to anonymous neurologist blogger Dr. Grumpy. I was fascinated to learn that, in the aftermath of the news that Botox is now FDA-approved for migraines, Dr. Grumpy’s office was besieged with calls:
Mary and Annie logged 47 calls from Botox-seeking-patients today, all somehow under the impression that since it's now FDA approved I suddenly have an endless Bucket O' Botox and can inject it at the drop of a hat.
Hint: he doesn’t. See the rest of the post: Attention: All my migraine patients!
In Hairs leap off like lemmings, Grumpy tackles one of his most favouritest themes, patient entitlement. He’s always exasperated, but I think it’s getting worse. He closes with the brilliant shout:
What the hell do you people want from me? Magic?
Amen. People love to hate doctors and constantly accuse them of being “arrogant” … but the second they admit that they don’t know how to help, suddenly they are “useless” and “don’t know anything”? To anyone who has done this, please: be nicer.
