Paula Prescott can’t think of a better way to celebrate her 45th birthday than to run the Race to Robie Creek.

“It’s the biggest party in Boise for runners,” said Prescott, who has worked as a product technician at Micron for 21 years.

Apparently she’s not alone. Of the 2,508 participants registered for Saturday’s annual half-marathon, there are 10 who are celebrating a birthday.

Here are some of their reasons for wanting to tackle the race on their special day:
