Winter storm will drop up to 6 inches of snow in Boise mountains Tuesday night; Valley may get some flurries | Boise, Garden City, Mountain Home | Idaho Statesman

The first winter storm of the season will reach the Treasure Valley late Tuesday night, bringing a rain and snow mix, according to the National Weather Service. There may be light rain or snow flurries during the Wednesday morning commute.

The Boise Mountains and Owyhees are expected to get 3 to 6 inches of snow overnight -- the first real snow this year below 5,000 feet. The West-Central Mountains will receive 1 to 2 inches of snow. Twin Falls and Jerome are also expected to get 1 to 2 inches of snow.

The temperature in Boise dropped to the upper-20s Monday night, and the lows through Thursday will be about the same. High temperatures this week aren't expected to top 50.
