Obama says critics need to provide answers - Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says he welcomes a "healthy skepticism about government" — but critics in the tea party movement and elsewhere need to do more than just lash out.

Obama says critics who want to cut spending need to spell out whether they're willing to cut benefits for veterans, or make cuts in Social Security and Medicare.

At a CNBC town hall forum Monday, Obama also said the bailouts that have come under fire from the right aren't the source of the government's deficit woes. He says there were tax cuts and wars that weren't paid for, and an aging population demanding services.

Obama said "facts and reality" go beyond "political rhetoric," and problems won't be solved "just by yelling at each other."

This is so right. Hope it brings useful dialogue.
