Coming soon to Boise State: Zipcar | Boise State University | Idaho Statesman
Hey Boise State students, have long list of errands and no car? No problem. Zipcar is coming to campus.
Zipcar is a car-sharing service that provides affordable self-service access to fuel-efficient vehicles by the day or the hour.
Memberships for Boise State students, faculty and staff cost $35 a year and include 24/7 access to Zipcars parked on campus. Members make an online reservation and use a special card to get into the car. When they are done, they return the car to its assigned parking space and lock up. Car rental rates start at $8 an hour weekdays, $9 on weekends or $66 a day, $72 on weekends. The rates include gas and insurance.
Members age 18 to 20 can use a dedicated group of Zipcars that live on campus. Members age 21 or older also have access to thousands of Zipcars all around the world.
Zipcars and Boise State will host a launch party on the Student Union patio at 11 a.m. Tuesday to announce the new program. Representatives from Zipcar will be on campus all day providing information, giveaways, opportunities to sign up and a chance to check out the cars.
