Drexel Staff, VALE, OR, US - The deadline is approaching to enter your film into the ā€œFilm-makers Competitionā€ held in conjunction with the Drexelā€™s Annual Childrenā€™s Film Festival, ā€œFor kids, by kids and with kids in mind.ā€ The Drexel Foundation is now accepting films for the competition, and the deadline for free entry of films is August 31st. Films must be family appropriate, rated G to PG. In the film division there are four (4) age categories, 4-11, 12-14, 15-19 and 20 & up, with 1st place winners in each category winning a trophy and gift certificates with a $50 value. Some ideas for your film are a commercial, a ā€œphotoā€ slideshowā€, a ā€œsuper shorts of 12 secondsā€, a story or interviews. The best overall entry ā€œBEST OF SHOWā€ will receive $100 cash. All participants win a prize.

New this year is a special category all about ā€œFoodā€. The 1st place winner in this category will receive $100 cash. This category is sponsored by Peter Lawson, director of the local food bank. So if you want to join the conversation about food systems, community gardens, local food challenge, food security, farm to table, feeding the poor, or the impact of efforts to help the hungry enter your film in this category.

`Films need to be submitted by the deadline for the FREE entry fee and in DVD format, or on mini dv tape, and no shorter than 5 seconds and no longer than 12 minutes. (All late entries are charged a late fee of $25.)

The Drexel Foundation accepts films from anywhere, ONE, NEED NOT BE PRESENT TO WIN! The films will be shown on the Historic Rex Theaters big screen on Sept. 12 at 6:30. To enter mail or drop off submitted films and registrations at 301 A St, Vale, OR 97918. Registration sheets can be found at our website www.thedrexelfoundation.org.
