Revolution

The thing about protests is that they're going to be ineffective. They just are. They might sway some opinions, but decisions on Wall Street and Capitol Hill are made based on economics; opinions don't matter. *People* don't matter. These things inevitably become violent as frustration over the ineffectual expenditures of time and energy on both sides mount, and nothing changes except that 'we thepeople' have allowed ourselves once again to be represented as being desperately in need of the nanny state we claim to hate. The mature, responsible, effective thing to do is to listen, speak, conduct thorough (or at least sufficient) research, present cogent arguments, and have the patience to hash things out in meaningful ways until change is effected without destroying everything we're trying to build.
