"Sticks and stones...
"... may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." This is a mantra many of us grew up on, but somewhere along the way we realized that words can and often do hurt people and that realization has been parlayed into a politically-correct world in which words are given as much weight as actions. "Do as I say, not as I do," is the norm of late; we've forgotten all about, "Children Learn What They Live."
It seems to me that as adults not only ought we be able to choose how words will be allowed to affect us, but that what we do still says far more about who we are than what we say.
